Summary

This is an umbrella project against fast food habit of students.15-18 age of "Volunteer"students work together on group projects. As 2011 is the European year of Volunteering, volunteer students take pictures or videos of the local people while interacting or having fast food in the town/city. They also use questionnaires to determine eating habits of their friends at school. Students learn about the differences and similarities between their own/each other’s eating habits and traditions,alternative food instead of eating fast food, promoting greater understanding and a sense of European citizenship. This project is an opportunity to practice foreign language and increase the motivation toward language learning. English is used for all written or oral contacts. Findings, results,outcomes will be share by common web page; students may also get in touch with Facebook group for effective communication. English, Science, Social Studies, ICT, Visual Arts, Physical Education are explored and information is exchanged while improving skills on the project idea.

Teachers from different areas take part to help avoid Fast Food. They plan,initiate,motivate,monitor and evaluate the success of the project from the beginning. Through intercultural contact at project meetings and online meetings, teachers share materials and the motivational strategies for the development of the project. So methods of operating and evaluating the project, culture, English and ICT are improved.

Everyone shares in the responsibility for informing the central school authorities and the society at large about the project. So everyone in the school area will have an awareness and knowledge on health. They do not let children get habituated to Fast Food. Families will substitute fast food with healthy food.
